Bowman Power Group is delighted to announce that our Principal Mechanical Engineer, Maria Llorens, has won the Women in Business ‘Rising Star’ award, run by The Business Magazine.

The award looks to recognise and celebrate women who excel in their profession, and have made a substantial impact in business. For the Rising Star category, The Business Magazine says that they looked for a ‘woman to watch’, who demonstrates exceptional capabilities in leadership, mentoring skills and generating new ideas.

Maria is the head of our Mechanical Engineering Department and a design authority for our Electric Turbo Compounding (ETC) energy efficiency systems. She is the resource manager of a multidisciplinary team and is responsible for many areas in Bowman’s Engineering Department, such as the product development cycle and new product introductions. Her pro-active, self-driven nature has made her an outstanding member of Bowman’s team.

During her award acceptance speech at Oakley Hall, Maria said; “Being recognised as both a woman and an engineer who has accomplished great things makes me feel incredibly proud of myself, and I’m really happy to be here. I’ve never had a role model, because I don’t like the idea of following in someone else’s footsteps. I want to make my own mark in business, no matter how hard that might be.”

Toby King, Bowman’s CEO, commented; “Maria is a hugely talented member of the Bowman team. Her dedication to engineering and her readiness to apply herself to new challenges are just some of the stellar attributes she demonstrates everyday. We’re incredibly proud to see her hard work and talent recognised at this event.”
