Bowman Power is delighted to announce that it has entered into a strategic partnership with Cummins Inc.,a global power leader that serves more than 190 countries across the world.

Under the agreement, the two companies are working to integrate Bowman’s Electric Turbocompounding (ETC) technology with Cummins’ generator sets.  Cummins has previously tested the Bowman technology at its own test facilities and observed fuel efficiency improvements ranging from 5 percent to 8 percent.

Two Cummins generator sets fitted with Bowman ETC systems are currently undergoing durability testing under high ambient temperature conditions in Saudi Arabia.  Following a successful outcome of these field trials, Cummins plans a commercial roll-out of the technology to some existing customers.

The two companies have also entered into a purchasing and licensing agreement, under which Cummins will sell Bowman’s ETC equipment through its own sales channels, and has the option to access Bowman’s technology in adjacent markets. The deal will enable Bowman to leverage Cummins’ extensive global supply chain and manufacturing engineering expertise, and the companies will work together on cost-down activities.

Dr Toby King, CEO of Bowman Power Group Ltd, said: “We are delighted to enter into such a wide-ranging strategic alliance with Cummins.  As the leading global player in diesel, and increasingly, gas gensets, with broad expertise across turbochargers, engines and power electronics, we feel Cummins is a great partner to help us grow the business even faster and further.  We look forward to selling our equipment through Cummins’ global sales and distribution network.”

Bowman’s technology typically provides generator set owners 5 percent to 8 percent  fuel savings and up to 15 percent  additional power, without any increase in footprint or maintenance costs.  With 600 systems in the field, and more than  eight million running hours accumulated across four continents, the technology is proven, robust and mature.

The financial terms of the agreement are not disclosed.
