Women in Business is an awards programme organized by The Business Magazine, which recognizes women who have excelled in their profession and made a real impact on businesses. The key principle of the awards is to discover outstanding women who, through leadership and innovative ideas, stand out as an exceptional individual in their role.
The ‘Rising Star’ awards category is specifically for women aged 30 or under, and who are “Women to Watch”. The category looked for women who have quickly risen through the ranks and made their mark in industry, with the qualities to make a strong future leader.
Bowman Power Group are delighted that Maria Llorens, our Principal Mechanical Engineer, has been selected as a finalist for the Women in Business ‘Rising Star’ Award.
Before joining us in 2014, Maria worked at Rolls Royce, where she managed a multidisciplinary team and maintained communication across branches spread through Europe. She was responsible for a strategy change in the life declaration of components, which in the years after its implementation has resulted in substantial cost savings.
She has also mentored students during her time with Bowman Power Group and Rolls Royce, preparing young professionals with real-life experience in a challenging environment.
Today, Maria is the head of our Mechanical Engineering Department and Design Authority for our Electric Turbo Compounding (ETC) technology. A pro-active, self-driven engineer, Maria has proven herself an outstanding member of the Bowman team.
Of her selection as a finalist for the ‘Rising Star’ award, Maria said; “I’m thrilled to have my achievements recognized by the Women in Business Awards, and I hope it inspires other young engineers to push themselves. Working in Engineering – a traditionally male-dominated environment – is a challenging but rewarding experience, and I think having dedication, charisma and enthusiasm for the project you’re working on is what gets you real results.”
