Heavy vehicles such as trucks
or other vehicles with heavy
diesel engines can improve
fuel consumption and
reduce emissions with
Bowman technology.
Heavy Vehicles
Bowman provides systems for heavy vehicles such as heavy trucks, buses, coaches, agricultural vehicles, construction plant and other vehicles using heavy diesel engines, improving fuel consumption and helping compliance with efficiency (CO2 reduction) and emission regulations.
The largest element of vehicle operating costs is fuel. Therefore, anything that can reduce fuel consumption is of benefit. The Bowman turbo generator is driven by the waste energy in the engine exhaust (typically 33% of the energy in the fuel exits via the exhaust of a turbocharged engine). A further stage of turbine expansion is used to recover more energy and boost efficiency or power.
Whilst no heavy vehicle systems are in production yet, Bowman already has a number of development projects with world class heavy vehicle manufacturers. Our confidentiality obligations prevent us from disclosing the names of these heavy vehicle companies, but rest assured that Bowman technology will feature in many heavy vehicles as standard in the near future. Please contact us to discuss your requirements or for further information.
In addition to turbo generators there are other methods to recover waste heat energy from vehicles. Some systems use an Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) to capture the heat energy. This is then expanded through a turbo generator for conversion to useful electrical energy. Bowman is actively involved in these projects where the heavy vehicle manufacturer wishes to use our turbo generator technology to recover the waste energy. Please contact us for further information on these types of systems.
